BRUSH FIRE INVOLVING SEVERAL VEHICLES

 

May 6th - Company 6 was dispatched at 10:23 for a brush fire involving several cars spreading into the woods. Engine 6-2, Brush 6, Pumper 6 and Tanker 6 responded, crews arrived and contained the fire to a one acre area before it got into the woods.

 

 


MVA - VEHICLE HAULING A RACE CAR

 

May 2nd - At 18:08 Company 6 was alerted for an MVA on Route 322 west of the Borough. Jefferson County advised one vehicle hauling a race car off the roadway with no injuries, Pumper 6 and Chief 6 responded with 20 volunteers. Units found a race car and trailer in the woods and confirmed no injuries, accident clean-up and traffic control only. Subject hauling the race car was on their way to Thunder Mountain Speedway just down the road.

 

 

 


SMOKE IN BUILDING

 

May 2nd - Company 6 responded at 13:42 for smoke in a structure at 446 Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough. A Gas Well Purchasing business recently moved in and noticed smoke in the structure, Engine 6-2 and Rescue 6 responded with 19 volunteers. Crews checked the building with thermal imagers and concluded the smoke came from an overheated light unit.

 

 


STRUCTURE/FLU FIRE - ROCKDALE RD WASHINGTON TWP

 

Apr 30th - At 13:39, Company 6 along with Falls Cree, Dubois City and Sandy Twp 38 were alerted for a structure/flu fire on Rockdale Road in Washington Township. Rescue 6, Tanker 6 and Engine 6-2 responded . Fire personnel cleared the chimney and used Thermal Imagers to check the entire structure for extension. The fire was contained to the chimney area.

 

 

 


MVA - 1 VEHICLE INTO A POLE WITH WIRES DOWN

 

Apr 29th - At 23:22 Company 6 was alerted for an MVA on Gaswell Road in Winslow Township, one truck into a pole with wires down and no injuries. Reynoldsville PD received a call direct and requested FD to the scene. Pumper 6 responded and secured the scene until PSP arrived. PSP remained on scene until Penelec arrived.

 

 


AFA WITH NATURAL GAS IN THE BUILDING

 

Apr 23rd - Company 6 was alerted at 12:02 for an AFA with natural gas in the building at the Jeff Tech Vocational School. Engine 6-2 and Rescue 6 responded and found all students evacuated form the structure. School staff pulled the fire alarm due to the smell of natural gas in the building, the building was searched with no success on finding the natural gas leak. The scene was secured until National Fuel Arrived. Students did not have class the following day.

 

 

 


BUSY DAY FOR THE 6 HOUSE

 

Apr 19th - The first call came in at 13:30 when Company 6 was alerted for a brush fire on Point View Road, Winslow Township, Pumper 6 and Brush 6 responded along with 21 members. Units found a brush fire directly endangering two structures. Units contained the fire with no damage to either structure.

 

The next call came in a at 14:13 for Company 6 to assist Brockway FD with a large woods fire on Clay Plant Road. Tanker 6 remained on the scene for several hours.

 

At 15:15 Brush 6 along with Chief 6 and manpower responded to assist Sandy Township with a large woods fire on I-80 at milemarker 101. Crews were on scene for several hours.

 

Then at 16:49 Company 6 was alerted for mutual aid for a working structure fire on Wasson Avenue in Sandy Township. Rescue 6 responded with numerous members, along with several  who were already in Sandy Township battling a large woods fire. The fire was contained to a small portion of the residence. All 6 House members assisted with mop up and ventilation.

 

 

 

Ending the day at 20:20, Company 6 was alerted for mutual aid for a brush fire in the area known as "The Puzzle Piece" in Winslow Township, Pumper 6 and Tanker 6 responded with 24 members to find a 1-2 acre fire burning in the woods.

 

 

 


2-3 ACRE BRUSH FIRE IN McCALMONT TOWNSHIP

 

Apr 18th - Company 6 was requested mutual aid for another brush fire, this time on Panic-Wishaw Road. Pumper 6 and Brush 6 responded with 14 volunteers to assist.

 

 


5-6 ACRE BRUSH FIRE IN McCALMONT TOWNSHIP

 

Apr 17th - Company 6 was requested at 15:28 to assist Jefferson Company 16 with a brush fire on Highland Park Road, Brush 6 and Pumper 6 responded with 8 to the scene. Units on scene encountered a very thick/steep hillside burning. All units were on the scene for a little over two hours.

 

 


4-5 ACRE BRUSH FIRE IN WINSLOW TOWNSHIP

 

Apr 16th - Company 6 was alerted at 17:59 for a brush fire on Route 310 south of Reynoldsville Borough, Brush, Tanker and Pumper 6 responded with 25 members. Jefferson Company 16 was also requested to assist at the scene. Approximately 4-5 acres were burnt.

 


STRUCTURE FIRE - SYKESVILLE BOROUGH

 

Apr 11th - At 17:47 Company was alerted for a working structure fire in Syksville Borough at the Laundry Mat, Engine 6-2, Rescue 6 and Snorkel 6 responded along with 22 to the scene. The fire contained to the dryer, all 6 units assisted with smoke removal and mop up operations.

 


MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT ON ROUTE 322

EAST OF REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH

 

Apr 8th - Company 6 was alerted at 14:40 for a an MVA with entrapment on Route 322 East near Well's Junkyard, Rescue 6 and Pumper 6 responded with 19. Units found one vehicle in the woods with one elderly patient trapped in the vehicle.

 

 

 


2 ACRE BRUSH FIRE IN WINSLOW TWP.

 

Apr 3rd - Company 6 was alerted for a brush fire on Point View Road in Winslow Twp near the train trussel. Brush 6 and Pumper 6 responded with 27 volunteers, units found approximately two acres burning apparently caused by a few young adults trying to burn the train trussel.

 


COVER ASSIGNMENT - JEFFERSON COMPANY 8

 

Apr 2nd - Company 6 was alerted for a cover assignment for Jefferson County Company 8. Rescue 6 responded with 8 volunteers to cover Sykesville while they were once again on a structure fire in Clearfield County. no calls were received while on stand-by.

 


MVA ON ROUTE 322 WEST

 

Mar 30th - Company 6 was alerted for an MVA, one vehicle rollover into a pole with a pole and wires down on Route 322 West. Pumper 6 and Rescue 6 responded with 17 members, units found one vehicle with no one around it. Pumper 6 and Chief 6 secured the scene awaiting the arrival of the utility company.

 

 

 


TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR STAND-OFF WITH HOSTAGE

 

Mar 28th - At 17:00 Company 6 was alerted to assist Reynoldsville PD and PSP in shutting down Route 322 in the Borough for a hostage situation. A total of 22 members shut down several roadways around the scene. Units cleared when negotiations were resolved and the subject was arrested.

 


MVA - ONE VEHICLE ON ROUTE 322

 

Mar 28th - Company 6 responded at 11:20 for an MVA with one patient not alert in the vehicle. Asst.6-2 and Pumper 6 responded with 11 volunteers, units found one patient with a medical problem. Crews assisted EMS and PSP at the scene.

 

 


COVER ASSIGNMENT AT JEFFERSON COMPANY 8

 

Mar 27th - At 19:46 Company 6 was alerted for a cover assignment for Jefferson Company 8. Company 8 was on scene of a structure fire in Clearfield County. Rescue 6 responded with 9 volunteers while 15 volunteers stood-by at Co.6, no calls were received while on stand-by.

 


STRUCTURE FIRE IN BROOKVILLE BOROUGH

& SYKESVILLE BOROUGH

 

Mar 24th - At 08:31 Company 6 was alerted for a structure fire in Brookville Borough once again on Main Street. Rescue 6 and Snorkel 6 responded within a minute and a half with 16 volunteers. The Rescue and Snorkel were placed available just before entering the borough, several Co.6 members in POV's proceeded to the scene to assist.

 

Company 6 was alerted again at 21:12 for mutual aid with Jefferson County Co.8 for a structure fire at the Borough Offices on Main Street in Sykesville. Sykesville police (whose office is in the building) advised Jefferson 911 that there was smoke beginning to fill the building. Rescue 6 and Engine 6-2 responded with 20 volunteers. Rescue 6 assisted at the scene and Engine 6-2 was directed to stand-by at Co.8.

 


MVA - ONE PATIENT

 

Mar 22nd - Company 6 was alerted for an MVA with one person still in the vehicle. Chief 6, Pumper 6 and Rescue 6 responded simultaneously with 19 volunteers. Wile enroute Jefferson 911 advised this accident occurred during the night with the patient in the vehicle the entire time. Units on scene found one vehicle off the roadway with one patient with a possible medical problem.

 


TRAINING DAY AT THE 6 HOUSE

 

Mar 15th - Members from Company 6 met at a local junkyard for a training session with the new Res-Q jacks and miscellaneous other rescue tools now in service on Rescue 6. 20 volunteers trained on this new equipment. Click here for more pics

 

 

 


3 EARLY MORNING MVA'S SIMULTANEOUSLY

THANKS TO FREEZING RAIN

 

Feb 17th - At 07:54 an extremely icy morning began with Jefferson County 911 alerting Co.6 for and MVA on Route 322 west of the Borough with injuries. While Rescue 6 and Pumper 6 were pulling out, County advised of one additional MVA on Route 322 east of the Borough with injuries. Pumper 6 responded with 8 personnel to the first accident and Rescue 6 with 8 personnel to the second accident.

 

While Pumper 6 was on the way back to the house they came upon another crash on West Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough, Pumper 6 and Reynoldsville PD handled the incident. All units were available by 09:00.

 


3 ALARM VALENTINES DAY STRUCTURE FIRE

 

Feb 14th - 19:39 brought the 6 House out on Box 10-C for a structure fire, Hatten Road in Pine Creek Twp. Rescue 6, Tanker 10 and Rescue 10 arrived to find a working fire in the basement, Rescue 6 utilized 3 1.75" pre-connects and a supply line to Tanker 10 and began Engine operations. Engine 6-2, Tanker 6 and Rescue 6 were on scene with 26 personnel. A total of 3 alarms were alerted due to a tough fire with structural collapse and a very rural location.

 

Units on scene: 1, 2-17, 3, 4, 6, 8, 13, 15, 16, Pumper 13, Tankers: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13-1, 13-2, 15, 16, 19 and Clarion Tanker 560, Rescues: 10 & 6

 

Transfers: 

Engine 30 at Station 16, Engine 40 & Rescue 19 at Station 2, Clearfield 75 at Station 6

 

 

 


ACTIVATED FIRE ALARM NIAGRA CUTTER

 

Feb 11th - Box 6-G was alerted at 15:01 for an activated fire alarm at Niagra Cutter. Rescue 6 and Chief 6 responded with 14 volunteers, units arrived and found a broekn sprinkler head. The box was in service at 15:14.

 


STRUCTURE FIRE AT JEFFERSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE

 

Feb 7th - At 13:31 Jefferson County alerted Box 2-AHH for a structure fire at the Jefferson County Courthouse. Chief 6. Chief 2 and Chief 10 arrived to find smoke on all three floors. Engine 6-2 responded with 8 personnel along with Snorkel 6 with 5. Engine 6-2arrived and assisted with ventilation on the 3rd floor, the fire was found to be a motor in the elevator shaft. Snorkel 6 was requested to stand-by at Station 2. A total of 16 volunteers responded to the call.

 


TRANSFER FOR COMPANY 2 & 10

 

Jan 24th - Company 6 was alerted to transfer an Engine with manpower to cover for Jefferson County Stations 2 and 10. Jefferson Stations 2, 10 and 15 were on scene of a structure fire on Route 28 in Warsaw Township. Rescue 6 responded with 8 personnel. Company 6 was on stand-by for a little over 2 hours with no calls handled.

 


DODGE BALL RESULTS IN AN AFA

 

Jan 17th - A friendly game of dodge ball results in an AFA at the Jeff Tech High School. Pumper 6 and Rescue 6 responded to find a gymnasium pull alarm smashed from a dodge ball, according to the gym teacher.

 


THREE CRASHES WITHIN MINUTES

 

Jan 17th - Company 6 was alerted for an MVA on Route 322 east of the Borough, just as units were arriving on scene, Jefferson County 911 advised of two additional accidents, one being on Route 310 south of town and another with entrapment on Route 950 north of town. Rescue 6 responded to Route 950 for the MVA with entrapment and Pumper 6 secured the scene of the first MVA, then responding to the accident on Route 310.

 


TWO STRUCTURE FIRES FOR THE 6 HOUSE

 

Jan 8th - At 05:31 Company 6 by request of Clearfield County Asst. 36 requested Tanker 6 to stand-by at Clearfield County Co.36 along with Sykesville Squad 8. Upon going enroute, Tanker 6 was upgraded to respond to the scene. Clearfield County Co.39 had a working garage fire extending in the main structure. All units returned at 08:55.

 

Company 6 was alerted once again at 08:51 for the 2-AHH Box. This time being reported in the main County office building on Main Street in Brookville Borough. Rescue 6 along with Snorkel 6 responded with 18 volunteers to the scene. Upon arriving units found the fire fire to be in the A/C unit on the roof. Snorkel 6 was utilized at the rear of the scene while all other units assisted with ventilation.

 


FUNERAL HOME STRUCTURE FIRE IN BROOKVILLE

 

Jan 7th - At 08:21 Company 6 along with Stations 2 and 10 were alerted for Box 2-AHH, the first working structure fire of the year. Eng 6-2 along with Snorkel 6 responded with 17 volunteers. Pine Creek Chief 10 arrived on scene first advising of a working structure fire at the McKinley Funeral Home on Main Street in Brookville Borough. The fire was contained to a wall upon first knock down.

 


FIRST CALL FOR 2008

 

Jan 3rd, 2008 - The first call of the year came at 09:25, Company 6 was alerted for an MVA on Route 322. Pumper 6 and Rescue 6 responded with 10 volunteers to find no injuries, handling traffic control only.
